1/ Tolerance for all types shall be ± 1/32 inch except for type I, 1-1/8 inch through 1-1/2 inch widths, the tolerance shall be ± 1/16.-1/32 inch.
2.8 Put-up. The tape shall be wound on standard commercial spools containing 720 ± 10 yards for 1/4 inch through 1 inch widths, and 504 ± 10 yards for 1-1/8 inch through 1-1/2 inch widths.
2.9 Fiber identification. Each spool or package of tape shall be labeled or ticketed for fiber content in accordance with the Textile Fiber Products Identification Act.
3. QUALITY ASSURANCE.
3.1 Certification. The contractor shall certify and maintain substantiating evidence that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of the Commercial Item Description, and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices. The government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
4. PACKAGING
4.1 Packaging. Tape put up as specified, shall be packaged in a snug-fitting, clear plastic bag conforming to A-A-1668. The quantity of rolls shall not exceed 12, nor shall the height of the stacked rolls exceed 12 inches. When specified, each roll shall be individually packaged.
4.2 Packing. Tape shall be stacked in a snug fitting fiberboard shipping container conforming to style RSC, type CF (variety SW) or SF, class domestic, with the appendix of PPP-B-636. The weight of the contents of each shipping container shall not exceed 65 pounds.
4.3 Palletization. When specified (see 5.2), shipping containers shall be palletized in accordance with load type Ia of MIL-STD-147. Each prepared load shall be bonded with primary and secondary straps in accordance with bonding means C and D or film bonding F or G. Pallet pattern shall be in accordance with the appendix of MIL-STD-147.
4.4 Marking. Marking shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-129.
5. NOTES.
5.1 Intended use. The tapes are used as bindings in the fabrication of clothing and other textile items. Type I, 1/2 inch tape is used as a backseam tape in footwear items.
