2. QUALITY ASSURANCE
2.1 Certification. The contractor shall certify, and maintain substantiating evidence, that the product offered meets the salient characteristics and requirements of this Commercial Item Description, and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
2.2 Quality conformance inspection. Unless otherwise specified, sampling for inspection shall be performed in accordance with MIL-STD-105.
2.3 End item visual examination. Each lot of bias-cut binding shall be examined for consumer type defects as follows:
Any hole, cut, tear, multiple float, smash, abrasion marks: permanently embedded creases or wrinkles; any stain, spot, or streak clearly noticeable; not seam type specified; stitches per inch more or less than specified not cut as specified; edges not treated with sizing.
The lot size shall be expressed in units of linear yards of binding, and the sample unit shall be 1 linear yard of binding. The inspection level shall be II, and the acceptable quality level (AQL), expressed in terms of defects per hundred units, shall be 6.5.
2.4 End item dimensional examination. The finished bias-cut binding shall be examined for conformance to the dimensions specified in 1.1. Any dimension not within the specified tolerance shall be classified as a defect. The lot size shall be expressed in units of linear yards of binding, and the sample unit shall be one linear yard of binding. The inspection level shall be S-3, and the AQL, expressed in terms of defects per hundred units, shall 2.5.
3. PACKAGING
3.1 Packaging. Rolls of binding of like description, put-up as specified, shall be packaged in a snug-fitting clear plastic bag conforming to A-A-1668. The quantity of rolls shall not exceed .2, and the height of the stacked roll shall not exceed 12 inches. When specified (see 4.2), each roll shall be individually packaged.
3.2 Packing. Binding of a like description, packaged as specified, shall be stacked in a snug-fitting fiberboard shipping container conforming to style RSC, type CF (variety SW) or SF, class domestic, grade 275 of PPP-B-636. The weight of the shipping container shall not exceed 65 pounds.
